FAQ
What is the best way to get a quote?
You can contact me directly via the phone number listed below. You can also contact us through the quote request link that is located in the details section of our website.Just fill this out and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Do you provide onsite estimates?
Yes we do provide FREE onsite estimates. This is usually the best way to get the most accurate quote. I also believe that this insures the best move possible, as having seen your items first hand gives me the insight in providing you a great moving experience.
When should I book my move?
As soon as possible. We understand that there are last minute moves that need to be done, and we make ourselves available when we can. But the sooner you know, the better it is to book earlier rather than later. We understand that closing get delayed and housing/roommate situations fall through sometimes. We will be sensitive to this and do our best to accommodate any schedule changes.
Do you take a deposit?
Yes we do. A 200.00 deposit secures the date of your move and this is refundable if you need to cancel your move 96 hours(4 days) before the move. The deposit is applied to the balance of your move. If you need to change the date of your move this is ok too, the deposit will just be carried over to the new move date.
Is there a minimum charge for the move?
A two hour minimum is applied to all hourly based jobs.
Should the contents of drawers be removed?
We usually recommend that all the contents of the drawers be taken out. Just to be on the safe side. But we do understand that in order to save time and reduce the amount of boxes, leaving soft items in the drawers can be helpful to you as well as us. We just want to make sure the movers do not get hurt lifting a large dresser that is packed to the brim with stuff. That is why we want to limit it to soft items, such as clothes, linens, etc.
Do not put any glass, books, media items, and/or jewelry in the drawers. As the piece is wrapped in blankets and moved, it gets turned on its side, upside down, and any way imaginable in order to navigate the stairs, elevators, and environs of your home. Having fragile/heavy items will cause damage.
Can you take down/hang our artwork, TV, AC's?
Taking down TV's, Art and AC's is usually not a problem at the origin location. Art in particular is of special consideration, as I have moved many art pieces and know it that each piece of art has its own special way to be moved. That is not to say we are art handlers, so if you have art that needs special attention, I would suggest we discuss what options are available. This is why having an in home estimate is important.
As for the destination location, hanging Art, putting up TV's and installing AC's is not something we usually do for liability reasons.
Will the charges be exactly what you estimated?
With hourly based moves, the charges are usually within the range from what is expected. I do my best to give you the most accurate estimate based on an onsite evaluation of your items. I usually try and shoot a little over in my estimates to take into account any unforeseen issues. I would rather have you prepared for a higher quote and have it be less, than give you a low quote, just to get your job, and then have you unhappy when it goes over.
How much will my move cost?
Your move is unique to you and the cost will be reflected based on the following factors.
- The time it takes to complete your move
- Travel time(which is based on your origin location)
- Surcharges
- Materials/Tolls/Parking/COI fees
What is Travel Time?
Travel time is a fixed charge that compensates us for getting the truck & crew to the load location to begin the job, and from the destination location to the next job or back to our lot.
What is a COI?
It is a document which proves that our insurance is valid and current. Please check with your building to see if it is necessary and we will obtain this for you.
What is Valuation? Insurance?
Please refer to our Valuation and Insurance page for further details.
Moving day is here and I am not ready.......is this a problem?
I understand life happens and it is a stressful time. We can accommodate this and be flexible with helping you pack and or assisting with whatever it is you need done in order to move you. These adjustments do add to the cost of a move and that is why, I tend to reach out to you as the move draws near and assess what your needs are and be realistic, so we can all be on the same page and do our best for you.
Do you have moving supplies on the truck?
Yes, our trucks are fully stocked with supplies. If you should need something, no problem. And if you need something on move day in particular, we will discuss prior to our arrival.
Will my furniture/items be protected?
Yes, most definitely. A walk through on moving day will be done and notes will be made on any furniture/items that need special attention. We use heavy duty quilted blankets. These provide extra protection for your furniture. Other companies might use what the industry refers to as "skins". They are very thin and provide minimal protection for your valuables.
Can you disassemble and reassemble my couch and other furniture?
Yes, if it is simple, like unscrewing legs and/or removing arms that are simply bolted on (like the ones often from IKEA). If the couch requires removal of upholstery, carpentry work, etc., we cannot. But we can recommend a company with whom we have worked with in the past and can help facilitate the process.
Am I responsible for parking tickets?
No, we will pay all parking tickets.
Can I move house plants?
Yes you can, and we understand that plants are an important part of your household. This is why we take them last so they come off first. There are times however that we cannot be responsible for delicate plants that are not meant to be moved.
Can the movers take Fido or Morris?
Although we have many boxes in various sizes, moving pets is left up to you. It is usually best to have a pet carrier available on move day. If you are securing the pets in one room while the move is occurring, please let us know and we will be sure to be careful. This information should come about during the walk through, but again, communication is key.
Are there items that cannot be moved?
Any thing that is explosive, flammable or corrosive.
Can jewelry and other small valuables be moved?
In general, it is best for you to transport all jewelry and other small valuables. A simple rule of thumb, If it is irreplaceable, you should handle it.
Can the movers dispose of garbage and trash?
Yes, we will remove any garbage and trash that is part of your move. We are not in the disposal business and can take only move related debris(used tape, shrink wrap, plastic covers and cardboard) Furniture and other items, you wish to discard are up to you. We will be happy to bring them to the curb if it meets with your building garbage recycling day or you have approval to do so.
Can I have a family member or friend help on move date?
My crew and I work as a team and having an extra set of hands sounds great in theory, but we are a well oiled machine and have a system that we have spent years creating. It is possible to help by watching the truck if we should have to park a distance from the origin or destination.
Is it possible to move during inclement weather?
Yes. The main goal is to be safe. We have moved in heavy rains as well as during snow events. Again this will be a matter of communication and consideration for the safety of all those involved.
What methods of payment do you accept?
Cash, Local Bank Checks and Credit/ Debit Cards.
